DescriptionHolloway Circus - Horsefair 1908 mural mosaic.jpg |
The Horsefair 1908 mosaic, by Kenneth Budd, 1967, in Holloway Circus is the only one of Birmingham's several remaining 1960s mosaics to still be in its original position. Since this 2009 photos, the mosaic has further deteriorated, and parts appear to be missing. The mural depicts activities in Horse Fair from 1215 to around 1911. It was unveiled by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham Alderman H. E. Tyler in 1966. According to the plaque - it depicts the activities in the Horse Fair which took place in this area until 1911 and which was the last remaining fair of the charter granted by Henry III in 1215. |
