Description Photo taken looking East. In "Buildings of England - Lincolnshire" Pevsner says "SUSPENSION BRIDGE, spanning the new river Ancholme, now at the end of a track. It is an early example of a suspension bridge (1835-6) and the only one by Sir John Rennie, built as part of the improvement to the Ancholme Navigation begun in 1825 and completed in 1844. Construction was supervised by Adam Smith. It remains very much in its original form, with rusticated stone piers forming archways over the road and its original ironwork and single plank deck."
