English: Hydrological Studies of the Upper Paraguay River Basin. The purpose of the Project is to set up a hydro-meteorological network in the region, and to conduct surveys to investigate the hydraulic system of the Pantanal. At the same time, environmental studies will be carried out, and an attempt will be made to establish a flood forecasting system based on an experimental model. The United Nations Development Programme has concluded an agreement with the Brazilian Government to cooperate in this Project, only in the Brazilian area known as the Pantanal. UNESCO has the responsibility for the implementation of this Project. Mr. A. de Gamarra, Spanish language editor at UNESCO Press Division and Mr. Paulo Poggi Pereira (Brazil), right, engineer and co-Director of the Programme examining a map of the Project.
Français : Études hydrologiques du haut-bassin du Rio Paraguay. Ce projet prêvoit la mise en place d'un réseau hydro-météorelogique dans cette région, ainsi que l’examen du système hydraulique de la région du Pantanal. En même temps, des études des conditions locales seront entreprises ainsi qu’un essai pour établir un système de prévision des crues, basé sur un modèle expérimentale. Le Programme des Nations Unies pour le Développement – dont l’UNESCO est l'agent d’exécution – a conclu un accord avec le Gouvernement brésilien pour coopérer à ce projet dans la seule région du Pantanal.
