Norsk bokmål: Hamarkaupangen på Domkirkeodden var en middelalderby og et kirkelig sentrum plassert på en utstikkende odde i Mjøsa. Myntslaging på Harald Hardrådes tid (1046-1066) tyder på at det var både handelsfunksjoner og kongelig tilstedeværelse der, kanskje kongsgård.
Hamar var en av de minste middelalderbyene og bebyggelsen var trolig mer spredt enn i de større byene. Bispesetet ble opprettet rundt 1152 og Hamar domkirkeruin er restene etter en kirke i romansk stil som stod ferdig omkring år 1200. Plasseringen av domkirken var påvirket av Hamarkaupangen og dens sentrale beliggenhet. Ved reformasjonen i 1537 ble Hamar bispedømme lagt inn under Oslo og domkirken mistet dermed sin status. For å forhindre forfall ble det bygget et klimaregulert vernebygg i stål og glass rundt ruinen som sto ferdig i 1998. (kilde; www.kulturminnesok.no )English: Ruins of the former cathedral in Hamar.
