Español: Vecino de Lavapiés y exiliado tras la Guerra Civil en Inglaterra donde falleció, Arturo Barea, el inolvidable escritor de la trilogía La forja de un rebelde, vuelve a su barrio, a ese “Avapiés” como él lo denominaba en su obra. el 4 de abril de 2017 la alcaldesa de Madrid, Manuela Carmena, acompañada por el embajador de Reino Unido en España, Simon John Manley, y el concejal de Centro, Jorge García Castaño, ha descubierto la placa con el nombre del escritor que, desde hoy sábado, da nombre a la plaza, antes conocida popularmente como plaza de Agustín Lara y situada en la confluencia de las calles del Sombrerete y Mesón de Paredes, frente a las Escuelas Pías en las que estudió el escritor.
