English: New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina:
View across the Industrial Canal towards the (at the time still-barricaded off) section of the Lower 9th Ward, from the Upper 9th Ward side of the still closed Claiborne Avenue Bridge. Visible are a breached section of levees & floodwalls plugged with temporary fill, and an area behind the breach largely devoid of standing buildings. Note that the long red structure to the right of the breach is not a building but a barge that was grounded in the neighborhood, the "ING 4727". In the distance, the Paris Road Bridge over the w:Mississippi River Gulf Outlet can be seen. |
