English: A closer look at one of the memory modules on the V6800. It is effectively clocked at 300 Mhz (as I said before), has a capacity of 4 MB and latency of 6 ns. Together with its friends it connects to the GPU by an 128-bit bus. Infineon, then a part of Siemens, later spun off their memory division as the Qimonda AG (filed for bankruptcy in 2009). The reason why most GF256 32 MB DDR cards are equipped with RAM sourced from this vendor rests on the fact that at the time Infinion exclusively was apparently able to produce large quantities. |
