English: The International Campaign for the saving of the Nubian Monuments was launched by UNESCO in 1960. The reconstruction of the Abu Simbel Great and Small Temples on their new elevated site was completed in September 1968. Here, in the pronaos, or entrance hall, of the Great Temple, two of the eight Osiriac pillars representing Rameses II as the god Osiris. Each colossus measures about 27 feet.
Français : Campagne internationale pour la sauvegarde des monuments de Nubie lancée par l'UNESCO en 1960. Les travaux de reconstruction des Grand et Petit Temples d'Abou-Simbel ont été terminés en Septembre 1968. Ici, sur le nouveau site, dans le pronaos, deux des huit piliers osiriaques représentant Ramsès II sous l'aspect du dieu Osiris. Chaque colosse mesure environ 8 mètres.
