English: During World War Two this building was in use as German prisoners of war camp Oflag VIII-E Johannisbrun. High ranking generals of the Netherlands army where imprisoned here: Major General H.F.M. Baron van Voorst tot Voorst, Major General A.R. van den Bent, Lieutenant General P.W. Best, Major General H.C.G. baron van Lawick, Vice Admiral N.J. van Laer, supreme commander of the Netherlands armed forces General H.G. Winkelman, Lieutenant General J.J.G. Baron van Voorst tot Voorst.
