Description
Sonne stayed in Rome from 1831 to 1840. In 1835-36 the city was also visited by the Puggaard family, and they would later commission Sonne to portray them in Denmark. When the present painting was exhibited in 1837, it was owned by the merchant Hans Puggaard.
