Français : "*N. Jeffares, Dictionnary of pastellistes before 1800, Londres, Unicorn Press, 2006, p. 412, ill. Ce portrait d'une jeune femme n'est pas identifié aujourd'hui. En le signant, Jean-Baptiste Perronneau a fait précédé son nom des initiales de son prénom. Cette signature assez rare se rencontre sur plusieurs des portraits au pastel exécutés en 1770, et particulièrement dans le milieu abbevillois, comme une réplique autographe du portrait d'Abraham Van Robais du Louvre (collection particulière), le portrait de Théophile Van Robais (Los Angeles, J. Paul Getty Museum, inv. 2005.52), ou celui de Mme Boucher de Richemont (collection particulière). Cette particularité n'est pourtant pas suffisante pour déduire que le Portrait d'une jeune femme coiffée d'une fanchon de gaze rayée fut exécuté à Abbeville, car Perronneau en 1770 signa des portraits dans d'autres villes, à Bordeaux et, à la fin de l'année, à Amsterdam. Il a appartenu à la collection de Camille Groult (1837-1908) dont la vente en juin 1920 de sept portraits de femme au pastel par Perronneau (n°27-33), ne donnait qu'un aperçu. La manière est caractéristique de celle du peintre dans les années 1770, avec un travail sous-jacent du pastel en hachures obliques parallèles visibles sur le visage.
