Oil Painting - Julius Deming Perkins Object Number 1941-01-2 Description Oil on canvas 1/2 length oval portrait of Julius Deming Perkins, (1830-1911) as a young man, turned to the right, high forehead, wavy brown hair, mutton chops, brown eyes, wearing a dark coat, white shirt and collar and black bow tie. The portrait was painted by Charles Osgood in Salem, Mass. in 1856, when Julius was 26 years old. Comment Julius Deming Perkins was born in Litchfield in 1830, the son of Charles and Clarissa (Deming) Perkins. For a companion portrait of his sister, Lucretia Deming Perkins, Mrs. John W.
