Description

also known as, Guan Yin, Avalokiteśvara, Chenrezig, Kanzeon.

Kannon is the Bodhisattva of Compassion. She transcends place and culture. Everywhere Buddhism has gone, they create their own version, which explains all the different names and stories.

The great vow of Avalokitesvara is to listen to the supplications, and cries for help from those in difficulty in the world and to provide them with aid. He takes many different forms....male, female, four-armed, thousand-armed, human, non-human, teacher, student...whatever expedient means are needed to help people most effectively.

Here she is seen on a Naga, who is a protector of Buddhist Law. She is standing, ready to take action. In her left hand is a vial. This vial contains the waters of compassion, ready to pour into the world. She is often seen pouring the vial onto the world. Her right hand Mirrors a common gesture by the Buddha, a sign and symbol of peace.

May all beings be happy, may all beings be peaceful, may all beings be safe.
