Eschhofen besaß bis zum 1895 erfolgten Abbruch eine spätmittelalterlichen Antoniuskapelle im älteren Ortskern. Den Neubauplan lieferte 1888 Diözesanbaumeister Jakob Fachinger aus Limburg, der damit einen anspruchsvolleren Entwurf Max Meckels verdrängte. Aber auch der Entwurf Fachingers wurde nur mit einem niedrigeren Turm und vermutlich kürzerem Chor ausgeführt. Die Weihe erfolgte 1891. Die neugotische Saalkirche aus unverputztem grünem Schalstein zeigt einen mittigen Fassadenturm mit Maßwerkrosette an der Westseite und einen kleinen, eingezogenen 5/8-Chor. Das schlichte, harmonisch proportionierte Äußere mit gestuften Strebepfeilern und großen Maßwerkfenstern setzt einen deutlichen Akzent in der Abfolge der Häuserzeile der fast schnurgeraden Limburger Straße. Im Tympanonfeld des spitzbogigen Turmportals Wandgemälde mit einem thronenden Christus in der Mandorla, der von Maria und Johannes flankiert wird. Das Innere besitzt durchgängig querrechteckige, tiefgefaltete Kreuzrippengewölbe auf zierlichen Konsolen ohne Hervorhebung der Gurtrippen. Die ursprüngliche Ausmalung von 1892 ist seit dem Weißanstrich von 1953 verschwunden. Bis auf die Orgelempore wurde die gesamte Ausstattung erneuert einschließlich der Chorfenster. Zur Sachgesamtheit gehören die Umfassungsmäuerchen mit Gittern aus gereihten Spitzbogenformen. Seit Errichtung der Pfarrei „Heilige Katharina Kasper Limburger Land (Sitz: Limburg a. d. Lahn)“ zum 1. Januar 2023 ist die Kirche nicht mehr im Rang einer Pfarrkirche. (Denkmalpflege-Hessen.de)
