Description
English:
Csongrád Our Lady Church. It was built from 1762 to 1769. Built in west of the former city center. István Vincze vicar celebrated the first mass at the pesent Saint Anne altar (1769) the 1st organ and pulpit with festoon built in 1778. The high altar on black marble base with white marble tabernacle with two, winged, carved, gilded doors completed in 1791/1792. The tower completed in 1784 and got clock in 1785. In 1886 the tower extended to higher. The church built in Baroque and has a round arched, semi domed shrine. Above the main altar is Assumption of Blessed Virgin painted by Lajos Tari in 1917. A version of the Tiziano painting located in Frari Church in Venice, Italy. There are columns on both side of tha altar with Saint Stephen and Saint Ladislaus statue. Saint Anne altar painted by Ferenc Vannay, There is Lourdes altar (1886), a John Nepomuk, a Holy Cross and a Mater Dolorosa altar these last two painted by István Piroska in 1910. Ceiling paintings are: Annunciation, Nativity and Saint Stephens offer the crown and country to Virgin Mary Listed and part of a protected architectural ensembles - Kossuth Square, Csongrád, Csongrád-Csanád County, Hungary.
