Description

'Ode aan de vriendschap' ('Tribute To Friendship') van kunstenaar Danny Tulkens.

In 1987 gaf het Verbond der Jaartallen de opdracht een luchtballon van acht meter hoog te ontwerpen met vier 'vrienden' erin. Niet alles verliep van een leien dakje. Zo was het beeld aanvankelijk omstreden: niet iedereen was overtuigd van de schoonheid van de 'Ballon'. Door stabiliteitsproblemen kwam ook de inhuldiging in 1988 in het gedrang. Tot overmaat van ramp werd ook nog eens een van de 'vrienden' uit de Ballon gestolen en tot vandaag niet teruggevonden.
