Vermessungsamt (u.a.).
English: A farmer with a team of oxen and a fully loaded hay cart, a "classic" ladder cart made of wood and with wooden spoke wheels, as it was handmade by local "coopers" for at least a century, here on the market square in Bad Mergentheim in September 1953. In the background, on the left, the former district savings bank, above which was the state surveying office (among others) until the move to the new savings bank building in Poststraße around 1958. Schmelzer's pharmacy on the right, an OPEL Kapitän '51 (built 1951-1953) turns in from Burgstraße, its licence plate: Mergentheim Land (AW) 47 xxx. On the left-hand side of the picture is a "new" VW Beetle model with an "oval rear window" and the Swiss registration number (CH) ZH 18327, presumably the vehicle of a spa guest from Switzerland - a rather rare occurrence around 1953. Parked next to it on the right is a DKW F89 Meisterklasse station wagon with a plywood box body at the rear. |
