| Description |
To Annelies and her husband ("... We would like to walk around the picture!") La Plaza Las Tres Gracias, antes Plaza de Bellas Artes, es de 1946. Su promotor fue el señor Armando Planchart (también del edificio CARS, al oeste de la plaza); él contrató al acrquitecto catalán Joseph Mimó i Mena para diseñarla, y adquirió la copia de la escultura de las tres gracias de Antonio Canova hecha por el escultor florentino Pietro Cecarelli. La obra representa a las diosas Thalia, Eufrosina y Aglaia. Fue hecha en Florencia de 1910 a 1920 con mármol de Carrara y su pedestal está fabricado con mármol africano. La estatua ha estado en la plaza desde 1946. Incluye un espejo de agua, los cipreses del antiguo Cementerio de los Hijos de Dios (Parroquia San José, Caracas) y sauces llorones traídos de la Argentina. |
