Description
English: General aspect of Leishmania amazonensis promastigotes cultivated in Grace's insect medium plus CGS. Representative 10 seconds video, made at endpoint parasite culture (72 hr). This movie shows the general aspect of L. amazonensis promastigotes incubated for 72 hr (initiated at 2×106 cells/ml) in Grace's insect medium supplemented with 10% FBS, 2 mM glutamine and 100 U/ml penicillin, pH 6.5. CGS (50 µM) was added to cultures after 48 hr of growth and the video was captured 24 hr afterwards. After 24 hr incubated with CGS, culture of L. amazonensis showed differences in promastigotes characteristics, especially with regard to cell size and motility. Note the fast moving small parasites.
