Summary
editDescriptionLibrary Of Congress C1 cassette player.jpg |
English: The Library Of Congress C1 was a primitive but versatile compact cassette player for the blind. The Library of Congress distributed such devices from late 1960s to early 2000s; they carry no brand/maker identification except for the LOC itself and 'property of US government'. The C1 is a four-track mono player (no recording option) with versatile mechanical options - like playing in reverse and playing at half-speed (15/16 in/sec). There is mechanical pitch (speed) control option, but no matching digital tone correction - this will be introduced later on cassette players distributed through the American Institute for the Blind. By 2020, the LOC had already disposed of cassette players and some made it to DIY recordists and DJs. |
