| Description |
De Liermolen is een watermolen aan de Maalbeek in Grimbergen. De gebouwen van deze korenmolen stammen gedeeltelijk uit de 17e eeuw. De Liermolen was vroeger de abdijmolen van de abdij van Grimbergen. Hij was tot 1971 bewoond. Sinds 1980 is er een afdeling van het Museum voor de Oudere Technieken (MOT) in ondergebracht. De Liermolen is maalvaardig en wordt draaiende gehouden voor maaldemonstraties. De Liermolen is genoemd naar de heren van Lire, die in 1341 hun watermolen aan de abdij verkochten. Liermolen is a watermill on the Maalbeek in Grimbergen. Parts of the buildings originate in the 17th century. The Liermolen used to be the abbey mill of the Grimbergen Abbey. It was inhabited until 1971. Since 1980 the mill accomodates a department of the Museum of Old Techniques. The Liermolen is capable to grind and is used for demonstrations. The Liermolen is named after the lords of Lire, who sold their mill to the abbey in 1341. |
