Summary

edit
Description
English: Photographer's original caption:

The vintage London Lodge Motel— the word "motel" missing its m — stands in Metairie, Louisiana, along old U.S. Highway 61 — once (before the advent of interstate superhighways) an important north-south connection between Louisiana and Minnesota, 1,400 miles to the north. Part of it is still (as of 2021) designated the "Great River Road."

Notes: The Motel is within the City of New Orleans, several blocks from the border with Metairie. Photo actually shows letter "L" in "MOTEL" missing from the sign.
