Description
Nederlands: Kolonel Tede Beets (Kampen 1908 – Cartsfield 1990) was de zoon van zijn gelijknamige vader Tede Beets (Middelie 1880 - Voorschoten 1958) die voor zijn inzet bij de Slag om Wateringen 11-12 mei 1940 onderscheiden werd met de Militaire Willems Orde.

Zoon Tede is twee maal gehuwd geweest en heeft uit beide huwelijken elk 2 kinderen. Als eerste luitenant in het Koninklijke Nederlands Indisch Leger (KNIL) weigerde hij in 1940, evenals 95 andere officieren, de erewoordverklaring aan de Duitsers te ondertekenen. Op 14 mei 1940 werd hij daarom gedeporteerd naar Offlag VI A Soest (Dld) om vervolgens via Juliusburg in Offlag IV C Colditz te belanden. Voor dat hij in 1945 door de Russen werd bevrijd werd hij ondergebracht in o.a. Stanislau en Neubrandenburg. Na terugkomst ingedeeld als Majoor bij het Indisch Instructie Bataljon, later directeur S.R.O.I. Bandoeng. In zijn loopbaan was hij onder meer docent op de Koninklijke Militaire Academie te Breda (1938), Commandant IIB Kijkduin en was hij (inmiddels Lt.Kolonel) Commandant van het Korps Commandotroepen (1952-1954) en vervulde hij sedert 1951 de functie van Kolonel der Grenadiers in Schaarsbergen. In 1958 vertrok hij met zijn gezin naar Suriname in de functie van Commandant van de Troepenmacht in Suriname (TRIS). In 1963 keerde hij (vervroegd) terug naar Nederland en kreeg eervol ontslag bij de Koninklijke Landmacht. Hij beëindigde tenslotte zijn carrière tot aan zijn pensioen als Commandant A-kring Gelderland van de Bescherming Burgerbevolking (BB) te Oosterbeek. In 1978 verhuisde hij met zijn echtgenote naar Catsfield (VK).

Voor zijn inzet en werkzaamheden werd hij onderscheiden met o.a. Officier in de Orde van Oranje Nassau met de Zwaarden, Drager Ereteken Oorlog en Vrede en de Grote Opbouwdiamant van Suriname.
