Description Napoli - Palazzo degli Studi. Progetto dell'astronomo Giuseppe Casella (1755-1808) per la realizzazione di un Osservatorio Astronomico nell'edificio. La torretta qui ritratta non fu mai realizzata. Infatti il progetto approvato e finanziato da re Ferdinando IV, pur avviato, fu presto sospeso non solo per la rivoluzione del 1799 ma anche e soprattutto perchè il luogo era troppo infossato e racchiuso dalle colline circostanti da non permettere una veduta ampia del cielo (difatti l'Osservatorio fu realizzato alcuni anni dopo sulla collina di Capodimonte). Interessante sull'incisione di fronte al Palazzo, il dettaglio del giardino del convento della chiesa di Santa Maria di Costantinopoli, realizzato al di sopra delle mura della città.
