Español: En la zona no hay buenas canteras de piedra, por lo que el ladrillo y el calicanto fueron los elementos constructivos más importantes añadiendose la posible presencia de población mudéjar en esta zona propició la construcción de numerosos templos parroquiales de estilo románico-mudéjar
Del llamado «románico de ladrillo», de aspecto sólido y macizo, se copian características del románico cristiano y desarrollan su planta y altura pero en ladrillo. Al emplear ladrillo en el interior se pierde la columna y se utiliza el pilar. La iglesia de Santa María del Castillo se asienta en el promontorio donde debió existir el antiguo castillo de Madrigal, de tres naves y tres ábsides, fue torpemente rehecha en el siglo XVIII, quedándose reducida a una sola nave. |
