| Description |
Deutsch: Südansicht der Erzherzog-Johann-Warte auf der 1270 m hohen Bürgeralpe in der steiermärkischen Stadtgemeinde Mariazell. Die erste Aussichtswarte wurde in den 1850er Jahren aus Holz errichtet. Nachdem 1881 die Sektion Mariazell des Österreichischen Touristenklubs den Turm übernahm, wurde ein neuer höherer errichtet und als Erzherzog-Franz-Carl-Warte am 19. Juni 1882 feierlich eröffnet. Wegen Reparaturanfälligkeit wurde 1908 eine neue 21 m hohe Warte aus Stampfbeton erbaut und am 4. September feierlich eingeweiht. Anlässlich dem 100. Todestag des Erzherzogs Johann von Österreich im Jahr 1959 wurde die Warte auf den heutigen Namen umbenannt. Seit 1981 ist die Warte im Eigentum der Mariazeller Schwebebahnen GmbH und wurde bereits mehrfach restauriert bzw. generalsaniert. |
