Description
English: The German teacher and headmaster Martin Luserke (1880–1968, 3rd from left) on the compound of progressive boarding-school Schule am Meer (School by the Sea) on the East Frisian island Juist in Prussia chatting with pupils. 2nd from the left is Ruth Berger (* 25 Februar, 1914 in Dortmund, Province of Westphalia, Prussia), daughter of (Jewish) merchant Hermann Berger of Dortmund. She attended Schule am Meer from 19 April, 1927 till graduation and left on 6 April, 1933.
Deutsch: Schulleiter Martin Luserke (1880–1968, 3. von links) mit Schülern auf dem Areal des reformpädagogischen Landerziehungsheims Schule am Meer im Loog auf der ostfriesischen Insel Juist in Preußen. Die vier Abgebildeten befinden sich am südlichen Anbau des Schulhauptgebäudes Diesseits (ex Café Tusculum) zwischen den weiteren Schulgebäuden Arche (westlich) und Westfalenhalle (östlich) mit Blick in Richtung der südlich gelegenen Holzbaracke Jenseits. Die zweite von links ist die Schülerin Ruth Berger (* 25. Februar 1914 in Dortmund, Provinz Westfalen, Preußen), Tochter des (jüdischen) Dortmunder Kaufmanns Hermann Berger. She besuchte die Schule am Meer vom 19. April 1927 bis nach der bestandenen Reifeprüfung und ging am 6. April 1933 vom Internat ab.
