De martinitoren was nauwelijks beschadigd door de bevrijding .Heeft de gehele oorlog in de steigers gestaan wegens restauratie.Voor zover ik weet werd de canadezen gevraagd de toren te sparen.Lees ook :de bevrijding van groningen,door mr w.k.j.j.van ommen kloeke.Hierin wordt de volledige bevrijding van groningen dag voor dag beschreven.voorziem van vele foto's en stads platte gronden,waarop de vorderingen van de strijd.In 1940 was ik 7 jaar,heb de oorlog dus redelijk bewust meegemaakt.De toren stond in 1940 al in de steigers.(Graag tot nadere info bereid.) Ps.bovengenoemd boek is in mijn bezit.
