Auf der Rückseite findet sich ein Sechszeiler des römischen Dichters Horaz Die Inschrift verbindet das Element der Trauer mit der Thematik des Heldengedenkens sowie der Verbindung von Tod und Ruhm auf dem Schlachtfeld.
