Description
Deutsch: Der Mendelssohnplatz um 1910 aus östlicher Blickrichtung gesehen. Zuvor befand sich auf dem Platz das Rüppurrer Tor.

Ganz links ist die Kriegsstraße zu erkennen. Der Turm im linken Hintergrund gehört zum alten Hauptbahnhof. Das große Jugendstilhaus in Bildmitte wurde von Hermann Billing erbaut. Das kleine Haus in der Bildmitte war ursprünglich das Oktroierheberhaus, in dessen Rückseite eine Bedürfnisanstalt, nach dem 2. Weltkrieg befand sich (wie damals rechts daneben) darin ein Kiosk. Das Gebäude mit dem Zwiebeldachturm rechts dahinter beherbergte die Polizeiwache. Beide Gebäude wurden vom damaligen Stadtbaumeister Wilhelm Strieder erbaut und im Rahmen der Altstadtsanierung abgerissen. Ganz rechts ist ein Teil der Steinstraße zu sehen.

In der Bildmitte ist eine Gaslaterne zu sehen. Dahinter kehrt eine Frau den zahlreich vorhandenen Pferdemist zusammen.

An Stelle der in der Bildmitte sichtbaren Gebäude befindet sich seit dem Jahr 1985 die Heinrich-Hübsch-Schule.
