Nach Abriss des alten Renaissace-Rathauses von ca. 1600, entand an der Nordost-Seite des Marktplatzes das heutige Rathaus mit Uhrtürmchen und der Geissbock-Uhr (mundartl. "Gaasbecks-Uhr"). Georg Moller. Darmstädter Architekt und Stadtplaner (1784 - 1852).Er gilt zusammen mit Karl Friedrich Schinkel und Leo von Klenze als wichtiger Vertreter des Klassizismus und der Romantik in der Baukunst.
