English:
Former synagogue now adult library. Built in 1845. Late-classicist style. On the street front, is a Hungarian inscription: "egyedül az Istennek"=~"To God alone", on the courtyard side Hebrew inscription: presumably same is. At the top of the building are two Star of David. On its facade plaques one of these is the 'Plaque of Solidarity' inscription of its: ~"Let us remember our compatriots, known and unknown, who, in the dark days of 1944, bravely defended the Jewish citizens of the city with pity and compassion. /Erected by the Jewish Community of Baja with the support of Viktor Hegedűs in 2005"; the other facade plaque inscription: Pro Patria/To the glorious memory of our brothers and sisters of Baja who died heroically in the World War 1914-1918/(36 names, ranks, place names, years in two slops)/"It cannot be that so many hearts shed blood in vain......" - Inside is original the dual gallery system. Az egykori Zsinagóga. 2023-ban itt van a városi könyvtár felnőtt részlege. Megj. a helyi kiírás szerint a belépődíj van. 1845-ben épült késő klasszicista stílusban Az utcafronton,-ottjártamkor nem használt,- kijárat felett magyar felirat olvasható: "egyedül az Istennek", udvar felől vélhetően ugyanez csak héberül. Az épület tetején két Dávid-csillag van. Belül eredeti a a kettős galériarendszer. A zsinagóga beépített rituális tárgyait, például az előcsarnok kézmosóját, a díszes perselyt és a frigyszekrényben lévő tóraszekrényt (3 tóra van, mely Mózes Öt Könyvéről szól) helyreállították. Velük egy kevés kegytárgyat is, a mizrah-emelvény mellvédrácsozatával együtt is kiállítottak. Info: bajaikonyvtar.hu. A homlokzaton van a 'Szolidaritás emléktáblája' felirata: "Emlékezzünk azon ismert és ismeretlen honfitársainkra akik 1944 sötét napjaiban szánalommal és együttérzésssel bátran védelmezték a város zsidópolgárait. /Állíttatta a Bajai Zsidó Hítközség Hegedűs Viktor támogtásával 2005" Másik homlokzati tábla: Pro Pátria/A világháborúban hősi halált halt bajai híttestvéreink dicső emlékének 1914-1918/(36 név rangok, helységnevek, évszámok két szlopban)/"Az nem lehet, hogy annyi szív Hiában onta vért......" A kertjének északnyugati falánál árkád található ahol Holokauszt emlék, közel egy tucat névsor-emléktábla található. É-ÉK-i árkádrész, jobb szélén, héber magyar feliratos emléktábla felirata: "Az Úr házának e szent küszöbén ragyogjanak az ő neveik miként mennyekben is az Úr közelében ragyognak ők, Bácsalmás zsidó népének színe-java akik a földi lét 5701-5705 (1941-1945) éveiben a gonosz téboly vérengző viharának áldozatai lettek Közép-Európa pusztító térein" É-ÉK-i árkádrész, közepén emlékmú emléktáblája: A közelállokért kik oly messze távoztak A sokakért kik emlékké lettek. Gyászos magányben ülünk, és hullanak könnyeink!//Mártírjaink emlékének.
