La scritta "e nunca esquecer onde Portugal esteve em 1987 e 1989" (non dimenticate dov'era il Portogallo nel 1987 e nel 1989) si riferisce al voto contrario del Portogallo alla risoluzione delle Nazioni Unite che chiedeva il rilascio senza condizioni di Nelson Mandela.
English: Murales of Nelson Mandela in Lisbon to celebrate the 100th aniversary of the birth of Mandela, commissioned by the municipal council of Lisbon. Painted on the 18th of July 2018 by Nuno Sariva with the collaboration of João Carola, Marcela Duckamp and Carine Demoustier. The writing "e nunca esquecer onde Portugal esteve em 1987 e 1989" (and don't forget where Portugal was in 1987 and 1989) refers to the vote of Portugal in 1987 and 1989 against a United Nations resolution calling for an unconditional release of Nelson Mandela. |
