English: At the National Museum of Anthropology & Ethnology, Guatemala City, 27 June, 1979. I was studying in Antigua Guatemala; I visited Guatemala City for a few days. I first went to the museum the previous afternoon - it was listed as open until 5p but closed at 4p, so I only had an hour, not enough time for me. I came back the next day. Very good Maya artifacts and interesting things, but many were not labeled and there was insufficient lighting. I would have taken more photos but most things didn't have enough light and flash photos were prohibited. I talked with a nice lady who worked at the museum; she took this photo of me in the well lit patio. She gave me advise on nearby attractions and where to get posters of Guatemala. She said the museum was a low priority for the government. After I looked at the nearby Art and Natural History museums. Then I took a bus to a different part of town to see the Museo Popol Vuh, which also had interesting Maya artifacts; that museum looked very new and had many guards inside.
