Description

The light was built on Portage Island at the entrance of the Miramichi River, 6 kilometers (4mi) from the village of Burnt Church. It was equipped with a kerosene lamp until the 1950s, after which an electric lamp was installed. The cupola if made of cast-iron. The New Brunswick Aquarium and Marine Centre acquired it in 1986.
