北尾重政画の花鳥絵本。色摺り。半紙本6巻合1冊。初編3冊。文化2年(1805)正月、原板西村宗七、書林大阪・柏原屋清右衛門、江戸・岡田屋嘉七、同和泉屋市兵衛梓。二編3冊。文政10年(1827)孟春(書肆名削除)。料紙は奉書紙。絵師署名に「北尾紅翠斎模」とあり、初編の月所外史の序に「頃模写乎所其楽作一帖名曰花鳥真図」とあるように、模写を基本とした絵本で、狩野派などの花鳥画巻や舶載、和刻の画譜類を手本にしたと考えられる。『詩経』に所出の鳥や草木を中心に据え、「柀に文鳥」「戎葵に白頭翁」「菫菜 砕米菜 雲雀」(初編)など、漢名と和名両方を挙げながら、草花と鳥類をバランスよく描出する。彫りは精密であり、凡例に「画都て色を設されは一々真に迫ることあたはす」と、当初は墨摺りによる板行を想定していたが、急遽、極彩色の色摺りが出された。通常の板摺に拭きぼかし、没骨、合羽摺りなどの技法を併用し、多様な彩色を施す。当該本の初編の摺りはとくに佳良。(鈴木淳)〈参考文献〉鈴木淳「北尾重政画『花鳥写真図彙』考―浮世絵師による花鳥絵本の試み―」(『かがみ』39号、2009年3月)。
