破戒僧による異類婚姻を描いたお伽草子(室町物語)。美女に招かれた老僧が豪華な屋敷で悦楽の日々を送るものの、ある日錫杖を持った数人の若い僧が屋敷に乗り込むと、美女も家人も狐の正体を現し、逃げ去った。僧がいたのは金剛聖院の床下で、美しい着物や調度も反古紙や動物の骨などであった。7年の歳月を過ごしたと思われたが、わずか7日間の出来事で、若い僧は地蔵菩薩であったとする。掲出本は、伝土佐光信画の絵巻(現存不明)を模写した絵巻(小絵)で、大東急記念文庫や宮内庁書陵部、西尾市岩瀬文庫、早稲田大学図書館などにも模写本が伝わる。掲出本末尾には「土佐光信筆」(本奥書)とあり、「如慶広通」「具慶広澄」の印(枠のみ)を付し、「此本図者如慶以来先祖代々之宝蔵也/住吉画所」との識語を持つ。(恋田知子)(2019.11)
