花山天皇の女御2人の后争いから、天皇の出家、藤壺女御の怨霊事と安倍晴明の活躍などが描かれた古浄瑠璃作品。元は寛文13年(1673)正月刊、井上播磨少掾の語り物だが、本書は後半を改変した宇治加賀掾の語り本である。加賀掾は、浄瑠璃の体系化を図り、竹本義太夫・近松門左衛門にも影響を与えた古浄瑠璃太夫。当該本には原題簽が残されており、「花山院后諍(くはさんのゐんきさきあらそひ)/ふしつぼをんりやうせいめい神をろし・二条通/正本屋/九兵衛」という作品内容と書肆情報、加賀掾の九枚笹紋付き脇方簽には、「加賀掾/宇治加太夫/宇治伊太夫/宇治甚太夫/おやま人形 大蔵善右衛門」と、演者の情報が記されている。全15丁の本文中、見開き5ヶ所に挿絵あり。本文は16~17行で細かく記されており、こうした形式の古浄瑠璃本を、「絵入細字本」と称する。当該本の内題は「殿上之うはなり討」で、『古浄瑠璃正本集 加賀掾編』第1巻(大学堂書店、1989年)では、この内題を書名とし、翻刻・解題がなされている。なお、蔵書印「南畝文庫」(本文末)、同「斑山文庫」「高ノ蔵書」(表紙見返し)から、当該本は大田南畝および高野辰之の旧蔵書であったことがわかる。(田草川みずき)(2019.2)
