NIEUWS UIT DE WEST - DE VIERING VAN DE BLIJDE GEBEURTENIS OP CURACAO EN ARUBA; Weekjournaal van Polygoon Hollands Nieuws van week 9 uit 1947.; In Willemstad op Curacao wordt de geboorte van prinses Marijke uitbundig gevierd. Er wordt massaal gevlagd; de mensen gaan in drommen de straat op; in een optocht speelt een jazzbandje op een vrachtauto; gouverneur dr. P.A. Kasteel neemt, staande voor het raam van het gouvernementspaleis, een defilé af van Curacaose verenigingen. De dag erna inspecteert Kasteel op Aruba een erewacht van padvinders en woont hij, met gezelschap, kinder- en volksfeesten bij op een openluchtterrein met zaklopen, touwtrekken en ringsteken.
