DescriptionNOAA Ocean Explorer NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer INDEX 2010 “Indonesia-USA Deep-Sea Exploration of the Sangihe Talaud Region”(3).jpg | It is not uncommon to see smaller invertebrates hitching a ride on larger ones. Crabs in the intertidal zone will often have barnacles or limpets attached to their exoskeletons. In this case, an anemone appears to have settled on the snail shell that this hermit crab calls home. A complex set of events must have led to this association but it does not seem to be singular as we saw several such adorned crabs.
