Description
English: Ask "where is the National Railway Museum? " and the likeliest answer will be "York". The NRM has a second, lesser known exhibition at Shildon near Darlington.

Shildon is steeped in railway history, The world's first passenger journey ran between Shildon and Darlington in 1825, and the journey took 2 hours.

Trains still run between the two towns today, though the journey time is much quicker. An hourly service runs between Bishop Auckland and Saltburn and the trip from Shildon to Darlington takes just 21 minutes.

The Shildon exhibition may be smaller than York but it is well worth a visit.
