English: Nakamichi 700ZXL cassette deck (lid closed).
The 700ZXE and 700ZXL were two sister models manufactured in 1980-1982 alongside the flagship model 1000ZXL. The two models were electronically and mechanically identical, and differed in function set (which was mostly irrelevant to everyday operation). They were branded "computing decks" for having automatic azimuth/bias/level calibration sequencer. Both were almost as expensive as the 1000ZXL, at 2400 and 3000 US dollars (list price in the US), and both were withdrawn from catalogue after the introduction of Dolby C. There were no direct replacements - these were the very different Dragon and ZX-7 and ZX-9. |
