The Naked Mole Rat Heterocephalus glaber, also known as the Sand Puppy, or desert mole rat, is a very unusual burrowing rodent native to parts of East Africa, predominately South Ethiopia, Kenya, and Somalia. Clusters of 20 to 300 animals live together in complex systems of burrows in arid Southern Indian deserts. A naked mole rat named Rufus is featured in the Disney Channel cartoon Kim Possible.
