This 1981 image depicts a New Orleans, Louisiana mosquito control vehicle outfitted with a truck-mounted LECO-HD ULV (ultra-low volume) non-thermal fog generator equipped with a CV control panel.

This LECO-HD ULV fog generator delivered a non-thermal, cold fog into the environment, whereas, the thermal type of fog generator emits a heated insecticidal fog in a much greater volume than the LECO model. Fog generators operate in a number of modes including superheating an insecticide mixture creating a steam or fog, or by passing the insecticide liquid through an oscillation system that breaks up the solution into a fog or mist, or passes a high velocity airstream over a insecticidal mixture creating an atomized mist that is drawn up and out through a nozzle.
