Description
English: NSWR 72' 6" Type 'KAM' (ex-'TAM') De Luxe 'Main Line' Sleeping Car No.KAM 508 at Trainworks, the New South Wales Railway Museum, 31 March 2016. Designed by E E Lucy and built by Ritchie Bros' Auburn works in 1938, the last 'Main Line' type to be constructed. It was completed as a 'TAM' sleeping car but immediately sent to the NSWR Eveleigh works for conversion to one of 3 'KAM's'. It was first used on the Melbourne Limited until 1962, then the Brisbane Express until withdrawal in 1978. This car was frequently used by NSW Ministers on their official duties. It has 3AG bogies.
