English: Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.
A boarding school where boys from the Dutch East Indies receive a vocational education has been set up by the ministry of Social Affairs near Batavia. SHOTS: - trumpeter sounds the reveille; - the boys get out of bed; - the muster is held in front of the building; afterwards the boys stand in line with a food bowl; they get rice pudding(?) and eat this around long tables in the open air; - ext. several buildings of the boarding school; - the boys get instructions and practice a.o. drawing shapes, forging, metalworking, filing and woodworking; - the boys are sitting on wooden beds in the dormitory and relax: one writes a letter; another one plays the banjo; a third cleans a rifle.

Bij Batavia is door het departement voor Sociale Zaken een internaat opgericht waar Indische jongens een vakopleiding krijgen. SHOTS: - trompetter blaast reveille; - de jongens komen uit bed; - vóór de gebouwen wordt appèl gehouden; daarna staan de jongens met een etensbak in de rij; krijgen rijstepap(?) opgeschept en eten dit aan lange tafels in de buitenlucht op; - ext. enkele gebouwen van het internaat; - de jongens krijgen instructie en oefenen in oa vormtekenen, smeden, metaalbewerking, vijlen en houtbewerking; - de jongens zitten op britsen op de slaapzaal en ontspannen zich: een schrijft een brief; een ander speelt banjo; een derde maakt een geweer schoon. |
