Description

Nottingham Express Transit (NET) trams Nos. 209 and 215 at David Lane level crossing.

At this very unusual level crossing the railway is protected by railway style wig-wag flashing lights plus boom arms which only lower when a train is approaching whilst the trams are solely protected by normal traffic signals, as part of the wider road traffic junction.

One of my other images from here shows how banned turns mean that the traffic travelling alongside the railway can have green traffic signals / is still able to flow, even when a train is on the level crossing.
