Summary edit

Description
English: Photograph of an optical interference filter. A stack of thin films coated onto the round 1/2-inch substrate acts as a high-transmitting bandpass filter at 780nm with a pass-band of few nm. Light at other wavelengths in the stop-band a few 100nm around are fully reflected. Over the whole optical spectrum the filter looks semi-transparent, reflecting bright background light in this image.
