Notes
editThe surname was transcribed as "Lndork" in Ancestry. The three male children are listed as born in New York, when they were born in Pennsylvania and the ages are wrong. Oscar Arthur Moritz Lindauer gave his name as "Agust Lindauer" which is actually the name of his dead brother, Augustus Theodore Lindauer (1807-1857). This gives the appearance that he is trying to hide his identity. He wrote that he was a lottery broker and someone later wrote "(bad business)" under it. That person recognized it was illegal to sell unauthorized lottery tickets or be involved in the numbers game.
