DescriptionOur Fashion Letter March 9 1864.jpg |
English: "New York, March 9, 1864
Juvenile costumes are becoming more up-to-date every year, but this season they are the limit. Our engraving shows a small boys' suit. It is called "The Percy". It consists of a mustard-colored felt hat, with a red feather in it; a long box coat of prune blue, with large pearl buttons, military collar and orange cuffs; a pair of Zouave trousers, with a stripe of red down the outer seams; white stockings and short patent leather bootlets. This costume is "au fait" for little boys who are good." (I don't understand why this is dated 1864 when it's taken from a 1904 newspaper, but it is.) |
